Boat Rental in Trogir: Čiovo and Drvenik

Rent a boat in Trogir to explore Čiovo, Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali: nearby coves, a handy base close to Split, indicative prices and advice.

Trogir, a small UNESCO-listed museum town, hides a real asset for sailors: its immediate proximity to Split airport and a string of islands just a few miles out. Renting a boat here means starting your trip quickly and without a complicated transfer, with the first coves reachable within the first hour and a superb medieval setting to come back to.

A handy base close to Split

Trogir lines up quality marinas along the channel that separates it from the island of Čiovo. The town is an ideal boarding point if you land in Split, a few minutes' drive away. Most operators offer the Saturday-to-Saturday weekly format; some accept shorter day-cruiser outings to discover the area without commitment. You get a flexible departure, whether you set off for seven days or for a simple warm-up weekend.

Čiovo within easy reach

Linked to Trogir by a bridge, Čiovo is easy to follow by boat: its southern bays, such as Movarštica and Duga, offer clear water and anchorages sheltered from the maestral. It is perfect for a first quiet night, ten minutes from the old town. You can even walk back for dinner, a rare luxury while sailing, then return to your anchorage in the cool of the evening for a calm night.

On to Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali

A step further offshore, the two Drveniks, the large and the small, are worth the detour. Krknjaši bay on Drvenik Veli has a very photogenic turquoise lagoon, but it gets busy during the day, so arrive early or stay the night. Wilder Drvenik Mali rewards crews after quiet. These short hops suit beginners well and leave time to swim between each stop.

When to leave from Trogir

The season runs from April to October, with June and September the best compromise between heat, price and crowds. In summer, the popular anchorages of Čiovo and Drvenik fill up by midday, so favour early arrivals. Plan your crossings before the maestral strengthens in the afternoon, and always keep a fallback bay in mind in case the wind shifts. A morning start also means calmer water for less experienced crew, and a better chance of securing a spot in the popular bays before the day-trip boats arrive.

Budget and booking

Expect 1,500 to 4,000 € per week for a sailboat, more for a catamaran, which is in high demand and should be booked early. A local skipper at 150 to 350 € a day makes the first departure safer. Gaps often reach 10 to 25 % for the same boat, so Boat-Comparator queries several platforms live to help you decide. To plan your week, see our boat rental in Trogir and boat rental in Split pages. Always check the cancellation policy, which varies from one owner to the next.
