Costa Brava, Costa Blanca, Andalusia: what the readings say

Our readings from 5 to 11 September 2026, thirty days ahead of departure, cover all fifteen mainland Spanish bases. The lowest daily medians are in La Manga (€348 across 23 offers), Alicante (€372 across 70 offers) and Estepona (€421 across 30 offers); the highest in Barcelona (€1,399 across 84 offers) and Marbella (€1,374 across 100 offers). In between, the Costa Brava forms a surprisingly uniform block: L’Estartit €460, Cambrils €453, Empuriabrava €500, Roses €564 — four ports within a one-to-one-point-two range, less than 150 kilometres from a Barcelona three times dearer.

On motorboats, the country’s deepest category, the order is clear: €343 in Estepona (14 offers), €349 in La Manga (14 offers) and €352 in Alicante (36 offers) against €1,390 in Sotogrande (6 offers) and €1,139 in Valencia (12 offers). The Murcia coast and the Costa del Sol are the country’s two reservoirs of low prices.

Two counter-intuitive findings worth knowing before you book

The first concerns yachts. Malaga comes out at a €779 median (4 offers — an order of magnitude, not a statistic) and Alicante at €1,200 (3 offers), while Marbella posts €4,138 on a much firmer sample of 43 offers and Barcelona €3,400 across 13. On this segment, eastern Andalusia is not the luxury market you might assume: Marbella is, thirty kilometres from Malaga.

The second concerns catamarans, and it is sharper: Barcelona comes out at a €5,290 daily median (12 offers), six to nine times the medians in Fuengirola (€581), Estepona (€686) or Roses (€759). In this category the Catalan capital simply has no entry level. If your plan is a catamaran, look at the Costa Brava or the Costa del Sol first.

Two honest gaps in our data: no catamaran offer recorded in Alicante or Cambrils on the last complete reading, and no RIB offer in Marbella. We would rather flag that than fill it in.

What really makes a marina valuable

A study by Ricardo Martín and Víctor Yepes, published in 2022 in the journal Land, applied a multicriteria valuation method to Marina del Este, on the Granada coast, surveying sixteen experts from the marina, its management and academia. Their conclusion: the surrounding coastal landscape — cliffs, coves, protected natural areas — is worth some €16.3 million on its own, more than thirty times the marina’s own operating result (see the study). A good way to pick your Spanish departure port: it is not the number of berths that makes the day, it is what lies around them.
