Survey of 2 September 2026 for a 2 October departure: 7 RIBs in Formentera, median €580 per day, from €330 to €753. That is the 30th highest RIB median across our 152 bases, and the 109th entry price out of 152 — an expensive category at both ends of the distribution. The counter-intuitive point deserves saying plainly: in Formentera the RIB is not the budget option. In the same survey, on the same date and for the same departure, the motorboat comes out at a €420 median on 30 offers, from €232 to €1,300: €160 below the RIB, on a catalogue four times deeper. The catamaran sits at €698 on just 4 offers. The survey's 67 offers, all categories combined, span €232 to €29,040, for a €522 median. Those €232 are the island's entry ticket: nothing rents cheaper in Formentera that day, and it is a high floor next to most Mediterranean bases. An island with a single harbour — and Ibiza twenty kilometres away

The OpenStreetMap extract is unambiguous: the three nearest facilities all sit in La Savina harbour, within 300 metres of one another — Marina de Formentera (0.1 km), Formentera Mar (0.2 km) and Mollet d'en Guasc (0.2 km). After that, nothing until 19.8 kilometres: PortIbizaTown, Ibiza Magna, Marina Botafoch, Club Náutico Ibiza and Marina Ibiza, all clustered around Ibiza town. An island with one harbour has no neighbouring competition, and that reads straight off the surveyed prices. Anchoring off Ses Illetes is precisely the act research documents: a study by Iris E. Hendriks, Simone Tenan, Giacomo Tavecchia, Núria Marbà, Gabriel Jordà, Salud Deudero, Elvira Álvarez and Carlos M. Duarte, published in 2013 in Biological Conservation, measured populations of the noble pen shell Pinna nobilis — the largest bivalve in the Mediterranean — in shallow areas around Majorca. Across six sites, densities range from 1.4 to 10.0 individuals per 100 m², and those gaps are explained neither by shoot density, nor by meadow cover, nor by storms: where anchoring is not permitted the average density is 7.9 individuals per 100 m²; where ships anchor it falls to 1.7 (see the study). Spanish rules: no qualification is required up to 15 hp (11 kW) on a hull of 5 m maximum (6 m under sail), in daylight and within 2 nautical miles of shelter — one of the most generous rules in the Mediterranean, though each harbour master can refine it locally.
