Yacht Rental in Cannes: Marinas, Day Itinerary and Budget

Yacht rental in Cannes explained: Vieux-Port or Port Canto, a typical day around the Lérins Islands and the Estérel, what the price includes, how to compare.

A yacht rental in Cannes buys you one of the finest days at sea on the French Riviera: the Lérins Islands twenty minutes from the harbour, the red rocks of the Estérel within the hour, and a last swim in front of the Croisette before heading back. To get it right, you need to know where to board, what the rate actually covers and how to compare offers. Here is the essential, without the padding.

Vieux-Port or Port Canto: where do you board?

Cannes has two main marinas. The Vieux-Port, at the foot of the old Suquet quarter, handles most day charters: you can walk there from the town centre, the pontoons are easy to find and the quays are lively from early morning. Port Canto, at the far end of the Croisette, hosts more of the larger units and offers a quieter boarding experience, with simpler parking. Most operators confirm the exact pontoon the day before departure; allow a short margin for the safety briefing before casting off.

A typical day: Lérins Islands, then the Estérel

The classic itinerary starts with a morning anchorage in the channel between Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, where the water is surprisingly clear: swimming, paddleboarding, lunch on board or at a beach restaurant on Sainte-Marguerite. In the afternoon, head west towards La Napoule and the red coves of the Estérel, spectacular and noticeably quieter than the islands. You return in the late afternoon with low light across the bay of Cannes. Our guide to boat trips from Cannes to the Lérins Islands covers the anchorages one by one.

What the price includes — and what it does not

Yachts start from around €2,500 a day, and a skipper is all but mandatory on this class of boat. The rate generally covers the yacht, the crew and basic insurance. Fuel, however, is very often billed on actual consumption at the end of the day, depending on engine hours and cruising pace: ask for a written estimate before you commit. Extras — paddleboards, towels, catering, a hostess — may be added, along with platform service fees of 0 to 9% depending on the operator. Compare before you book

The same yacht is often listed on several platforms with a 10 to 25% price gap for an identical service. Boat-Comparator queries Boataround, SamBoat, Click&Boat and GlobeSailor live and shows yachts for rent in Cannes side by side, without being affiliated with any platform. Check the cancellation policy too — it varies from one owner to the next — as well as the security deposit. To widen the search to other ports, our yacht charter page gives the full overview.
