Formentor, Pollença and the tramuntana

Four departure or stopover points share the north of the bay (OpenStreetMap records): Alcudiamar and the Mollet d’es Barcarès in the harbour itself, Marina de Bonaire two and a half kilometres away, Port de Pollença 6.8 km out, and Ca’n Picafort 9.9 km to the south. The classic programme: Cap Formentor and its cliffs, Pollença bay, the Llevant natural park and the long sandy coast towards Ca’n Picafort. One constraint shapes the whole day: this north coast is exposed to the tramuntana; when it blows, the more enclosed Pollença bay is the fallback — that is the local reflex, and the operator will repeat it at the briefing. September on Mallorca’s north side
