The only base in our readings where all six categories are genuinely available

Reading of 2 September 2026 for a 2 October outing: 77 offers, median €671 per day, first offer at €93, the dearest at €4,172. What makes Sitges unusual is not its price but its completeness: across our 183 bases, it is the only one where each of the six categories we track holds at least five offers on the same date. The detail: motorboat 36 offers at €726, sailboat 12 at €719, yacht 8 at €1,800, RIB 7 at €331, catamaran 5 at €1,429 and licence-free 5 at €315. Two of those lines are the best in Spain in our collection: the RIB at €331 (1st of the 6 Spanish bases with five offers or more) and above all the yacht at €1,800, 1st of the 10 Spanish bases and 6th cheapest of our 60 bases worldwide with five yacht offers or more. See choosing the right platform, Sitges and the Costa Daurada and chartering a yacht for less.

Aiguadolç 1.5 km away, and a submarine canyon just offshore

Aiguadolç harbour is 1.5 km from the centre, Vallcarca 4.9 km, Vilanova i la Geltrú 6.8 km, Garraf 7.9 km, La Ginesta 10.1 km and Cubelles 11.1 km: 21 harbours inside the 60 km radius (OpenStreetMap data, ODbL), all strung along the same Garraf coast, with no island or detour. Offshore, the seabed drops away fast. A study by Oriol Giralt Paradell and colleagues, published in 2023 in Marine Environmental Research, covered 189 survey trips between January 2017 and December 2022 along the central Catalan coast and recorded 479 sightings of eight cetacean species; above all, it shows a distribution keyed to the seafloor — bottlenose dolphins in coastal waters, Risso's dolphins and fin whales above the Garraf submarine canyon system (see the study). In other words, what you may meet depends on your distance from shore, not on luck. See the marinas around Sitges, Barcelona and the Costa Blanca and anchoring properly.

September at −12%, and a motorboat pulling the median up

The median falls from €655 for August outings to €577 for September ones, −12% across three readings each side: the shoulder-season drop is real here, unlike La Manga (−2%). Read the overall median with care, though: it is pulled up by the motorboat, which accounts for 36 of the 77 offers at €726 — while the RIB, at €331, stays half the price for a day out. The ratio between first and last offer reaches 1 to 45, placing Sitges mid-field among our 158 bases with forty offers or more: neither a tight catalogue nor an extreme spread. A reminder of the Spanish rule: no qualification required up to 15 hp (11 kW) on a hull of 5 m maximum, in daylight and within 2 nautical miles of shelter. See "from" price versus firm price, which base in Spain and last-minute rental.

Sitges's waters, in practice

The Garraf coast of limestone cliffs and town beaches, some twenty miles from Barcelona. Wind-wise: the south-westerly garbí thermal in the afternoon, on a generally mild coast.

Departures, day-trip classics and season

Departures: the Aiguadolç marina, ten minutes on foot from old Sitges. The local classics: the Garraf park coves, Barcelona’s skyline in calm seas and the Castelldefels beaches. High season: from May to October, festivals and Barcelona weekenders boosting demand.

Roughly €100–250 per day for a license-free boat, €200–600 for a RIB, more for motorboats, sailboats and catamarans. Boat-Comparator compares the real prices published by the platforms at the time of your search.

Do I need a license to rent a boat in Sitges?

In Spain, no qualification is required up to 15 hp (11 kW) on a hull of 5 m maximum (6 m under sail), in daylight and within 2 nautical miles of shelter. One of the most generous rules in the Mediterranean — but each harbour master can refine it locally: your operator will confirm what applies to their waters.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Sitges?

On our reading of 2 September 2026 for a 2 October outing: 77 offers, median €671 per day, ranging from €93 to €4,172. By category: RIB €331 (7 offers), licence-free €315 (5), motorboat €726 (36), sailboat €719 (12), catamaran €1,429 (5) and yacht €1,800 (8). Why is Sitges a useful base for comparing prices?

Because it is the only one of our 183 bases where all six categories we track — RIB, motorboat, sailboat, catamaran, yacht and licence-free — hold at least five offers on the same date. You can therefore compare categories against each other on comparable samples, which is rarely possible elsewhere. Its yacht at €1,800 is also the 6th cheapest of our 60 bases worldwide with five yacht offers or more.
