Boat rental in Dubrovnik: compare every platform
Dubrovnik is a major charter base in Dalmatia: sailboats and catamarans mostly rent Saturday to Saturday. Boat-Comparator compares the available fleets across the major platforms live, with firm weekly prices.
License or skipper: the Croatian rule first
In Croatia, a recognised license is mandatory for any motorboat, whatever its power — true bareboat "no-license" rental does not exist. In Dubrovnik most visitors therefore book a skippered day trip, or rent bareboat with a recognised foreign title (the ICC among them). Our guide to Croatian license requirements details the papers checked at the pontoon.
The classic day out of Dubrovnik
Lokrum, the island reserve, sits ten minutes off the old harbour — swim on the seaward side, landing regulated. The real classic day heads north-west to the Elaphiti islands: Koločep, Lopud with its long sandy beach, then Šipan, strung out between three and ten nautical miles from Gruž. Mljet national park, some twenty miles out, is a very long day or a week-charter stop — sailboats and catamarans mostly leave from Komolac marina, Saturday to Saturday.
September on the southern Adriatic
The sea is at its warmest of the year, the autumn jugo has not settled in yet, and rate cards drop well below August: the best weather-price-crowd balance of the season, booked two to four weeks out.
Dubrovnik's waters, in practice
The far Dalmatian south, between Ragusa’s ramparts, the Lokrum island reserve and the Elaphiti chain. Wind-wise: a southerly jugo more present than elsewhere in Dalmatia, the bora being a winter affair.
Departures, day-trip classics and season
Departures: the Komolac marina up the Rijeka dubrovačka, and the old harbour below the walls. The local classics: Lokrum and its peacocks, Koločep, Lopud and Šipan (the Elaphiti), and Mljet with its national park further west. High season: from May to October, the old town pressing its crowds onto the harbour quays.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a boat rental cost in Dubrovnik?
Roughly €100–250 per day for a license-free boat, €200–600 for a RIB, more for motorboats, sailboats and catamarans. Boat-Comparator compares the real prices published by the platforms at the time of your search.
Do I need a license to rent a boat in Dubrovnik?
Careful in Croatia: a recognised license is mandatory for any motorboat, whatever its power (and a VHF qualification is requested for liveaboard units). True bareboat "no-license" rental does not exist — the options are a skippered trip or a recognised foreign license (ICC among them). Check this point before comparing prices.
Which platforms list boats in Dubrovnik?
Boat-Comparator queries Boataround, SamBoat, Click&Boat and GlobeSailor live, showing price, photo, rating and booking link for every offer.
How long does it take to reach the Elaphiti islands from Dubrovnik?
Koločep lies about three nautical miles from Gruž, Lopud and its sandy beach halfway along, Šipan some ten miles out: the three-island loop fills a fine day. Leave in the morning and keep a margin for the return leg, as the breeze picks up in the afternoon.
Where do rental boats leave from in Dubrovnik?
Three departure points: the old harbour below the city walls (small units and day trips), the port of Gruž, and Komolac marina up the Rijeka dubrovačka, the base for Saturday-to-Saturday charters.
