BOAT-COMPARATOR Guide
Belle-Île-en-Mer by boat, from Quiberon
The Aiguilles de Port-Coton, the citadel of Le Palais: the crossing to the largest Breton island, departing from Quiberon.
Belle-Île-en-Mer is the largest of the Breton islands, about a 45-minute crossing off Quiberon — a trip that works equally well by RIB or by sailboat on calm days.
Le Palais and its citadel
The main harbour, Le Palais, is overlooked by a Vauban citadel that once guarded the island's access — a landmark visible from far out at sea on the approach.
The Aiguilles de Port-Coton
On the wild west coast, the Aiguilles de Port-Coton are jagged rock spires made famous by Claude Monet's paintings, who returned to the site several times.
Pointe des Poulains
In the northwest, the Pointe des Poulains holds the former property of Sarah Bernhardt, accessible today at low tide — an easily recognisable landmark from a boat hugging the coast.
Planning your trip
The waters between Quiberon and Belle-Île can turn rough with a westerly wind: check the tides on this Atlantic stretch — see our Atlantic tides guide — and compare offers on the Quiberon listing page on Boat-Comparator.
