Six sailboats in every ten, and a RIB at €312
Reading of 30 August 2026 for a 29 September outing: 69 offers, first offer at €96, the dearest at €4,075. The €582 overall median is the least telling of our indicators here, because the catalogue leans heavily one way: 41 of the 69 offers are sailboats, 59%, the 4th highest sail share of our bases with forty offers or more, behind Arzon (76%), Lorient (66%) and Saint-Mandrier (65%). Those sailboats come out at a €1,034 median within a €150 to €1,536 band: a spread that betrays a mix of day trips and weekly charters — we flag it rather than smooth it over. For a day at sea, the other two lines are what matter: RIB 10 offers at €312 (€96 to €431) and motorboat 6 offers at €301 — the 10th cheapest motorboat of our 163 bases with five offers or more. The 3 catamarans and single yacht logged are given as isolated examples. See choosing the right platform, Belle-Île from Quiberon and 10 tips to rent cheaper.
Six harbours in the first two kilometres, 78 inside the radius
Port-Maria is 900 metres away, the Mané wet dock 1.4 km, the old harbour 1.4 km, Port-Haliguen 1.5 km, the Castéro dock 1.5 km and the Porigo dock 1.6 km; then La Trinité-sur-Mer at 13.6 km and Sauzon, on Belle-Île, at 14.7 km: 78 harbours inside the 60 km radius, the 7th highest harbour density of our 183 bases (OpenStreetMap data, ODbL). That abundance of moorings has a documented downside. A study by Richard Unsworth and colleagues, published in 2017 in Frontiers in Plant Science, measured in the United Kingdom the effect of swinging chain moorings on eelgrass beds — the very species found in the bay of Quiberon: each swinging chain mooring destroys on average 122 m² of seagrass, for a loss of at least 6 hectares across the UK; the impact stays local, but it fragments the meadow and reduces its resilience to other stressors. Those figures are British and do not describe the bay of Quiberon; the species and the mechanism, however, are the same. See the marinas around Quiberon, anchoring properly and Groix or Belle-Île.
A rising September: a composition effect, not a price list
The median rises from €321 for August outings to €426 for September ones, +33% across four then five readings. This is not a rate increase: it is the shift from a high-summer catalogue of day trips to a shoulder-season catalogue of weekly sailing charters, in a base where sailboats already make up 59% of offers. The correct reading is therefore by category, not on the overall median. Two things worth flagging: no licence-free offer appears in Quiberon anywhere in our collection, on any date — on open, tidal-stream waters, the offer runs with a licence or with a skipper; and the French rule still applies, no licence up to 6 hp (4.5 kW), with sail requiring none at all. See Quiberon or La Trinité-sur-Mer, La Trinité and the Morbihan, "from" price versus firm price and last-minute rental.
Quiberon's waters, in practice
A two-faced peninsula: sheltered bay to the east, wild swell-beaten coast to the west. Wind-wise: prevailing westerlies that the peninsula cuts off sharply on the bay side — two worlds a few cables apart.
Departures, day-trip classics and season
Departures: Port Haliguen, on the peninsula’s sheltered side. The local classics: Belle-Île with Le Palais and Sauzon, Houat and its long beach, the Conguel point and the wild coast in calm seas. High season: from June to September, to the rhythm of the Belle-Île ferries.
