€360 median, but a first offer at €64
Reading of 4 September 2026 for a 4 October outing: 65 offers, median €360 per day, first offer at €64, the dearest at €2,091 — a 1-to-33 spread between the two extremes. That makes Le Croisic the 19th lowest median of the 119 bases in our readings and the 11th lowest first offer: the base is interesting mostly at the entry end. Type by type: sailboat €486 median (27 offers, €64 to €1,333), motorboat €524 (22 offers, €80 to €2,091) and RIB €262 (12 offers, €150 to €453), by far the most contained line. The catamaran shows up on only 3 offers, €343 to €1,592: read that as an indication, not a median. The yacht rests on a single offer at €1,377, logged on 21 August 2026 — an isolated example, on an older date than the rest. For license-free boats, our collection has no reliable reading at Le Croisic: we would rather publish no figure at all. Chambre des Vases and La Turballe, two departures under 6 km
From the OpenStreetMap records, two named harbours frame the peninsula: Chambre des Vases, 0.4 km from the centre of Le Croisic, and the La Turballe marina, 5.9 km away. The rest of the OpenStreetMap list within that radius is made up of numbered pontoons — fragments of the source data attached to those same facilities, not separate departure harbours. This is the open Atlantic, where the tidal range dictates departure and return times: our guide to Atlantic tides and boat rental explains how to plan a day around them. This coastline has a well documented memory of storms. A study by Pierre Pouzet and Mohamed Maanan, published in 2020 in Scientific Reports, covers the French Atlantic coast as a whole — not Le Croisic specifically: the authors traced in sedimentary deposits the effects of 20 past storms spanning the last 1,000 years, confirmed by historical archives. Five major storms stand out, dated 1351-1352, 1469, 1645, 1711 and 1751; the 1351-1352 event is described as a millennial storm, "probably apocalyptic", causing severe damage and lasting flooding across a large part of the European coastline. The major impacts were recorded mainly during positive phases of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) (see the study). See the marinas around Le Croisic.
October, fleet composition and licensing
By outing month, our readings give a €342 median in August (3 readings), €516 in September (4 readings) and €360 in October (a single reading). The September bump is not a price-list increase: it is a fleet composition effect. On a base where the yacht rests on one offer and the catamaran on three, two expensive units appearing or disappearing move the median by tens of euros without any operator changing a rate. The October figure, based on a single measurement, deserves the same caution. On the rules: in France, motorboats rent license-free up to 6 hp (4.5 kW); above that, the French coastal license or an equivalent title is required. Sail needs no license at all. To place Le Croisic, the useful comparison is La Baule, the other Loire-Atlantique base in our readings: a €321 median across 55 offers on 3 September 2026, €39 below Le Croisic, but with a higher first offer (€80 against €64). The two therefore compete on different segments. Our 10 tips for renting cheaper and the round-up of boat rental prices by country round out the picture.
Le Croisic's waters, in practice
The Croisic “traict”, a tidal lagoon behind the wild coast of the Guérande peninsula. Wind-wise: prevailing westerlies on a rock-strewn coast where buoyage and tide drive the navigation.
Departures, day-trip classics and season
Departures: the Le Croisic harbour, on the lagoon channel. The local classics: the wild coast from Batz-sur-Mer to Le Pouliguen, the Le Four plateau and its lighthouse, and the sheltered La Baule bay. High season: from June to September, between the fish auction, salt marshes and regattas.
