Boat Rental in Biograd na Moru and Kaštela, Central Dalmatia

The Adriatic's biggest charter base and seven old Venetian castles by the sea: renting a boat in Biograd and Kaštela, Croatia.

Between Zadar and Split, central Dalmatia is home to some of Europe's largest charter bases — a logical entry point for anyone planning a week of sailing or catamaran cruising in Croatia.

Biograd na Moru, Croatia's charter capital

Biograd na Moru hosts one of the largest charter marinas on the whole Adriatic, with hundreds of sailboats and catamarans lined up on the same docks — a particularly wide choice for comparing offers in one place. The town is also a practical base for the nearby Kornati National Park.

Kaštela, seven villages between two cities

Kaštela takes its name from the seven fortified castles built by 16th-century Venetian nobility to guard against Ottoman raids, still standing along the bay that stretches between Split and Trogir. Its proximity to Split airport makes it a handy base for a late-arriving flight.

Two different rhythms

Biograd runs almost exclusively on weekly, Saturday-to-Saturday turnarounds, like most large Croatian bases — see our catamaran charter Croatia guide. Kaštela, being closer to a major city, works just as well for a day rental as for a week's departure, building on our catamaran charter from Split guide.

Budget and comparison

Sailboat €300-700/day (€1,500-4,000/week), catamaran €800-1,500/day (€3,000-8,000/week in high season). Boat-Comparator compares Boataround, SamBoat, Click&Boat and GlobeSailor for Biograd and Kaštela in one search.
