Boat Rental in Santa Eulalia: Ibiza's East Coast, Family Style
Built around its river, Santa Eulalia opens onto a more sheltered east coast than Ibiza Town, from Cala Llonga to quiet coves further along.
On Ibiza's east coast, Santa Eulalia — full name Santa Eulària des Riu — takes its name from the only permanent river in the Balearic Islands, which flows into the sea at the foot of the town. It's a calmer setting than the capital, popular with families.
A sheltered marina
Santa Eulalia's marina, protected from the prevailing westerly winds, is an easy starting point for a first family outing, with quick access to nearby coves without an exposed crossing.
Cala Llonga and the coves to the south
A few miles south, Cala Llonga closes off a deep, sheltered bay, prized for its easy anchorage and sandy beach; further on, the quieter coves toward Cala Nova reward a slower pace.
Puig de Missa
Seen from the sea, the silhouette of Puig de Missa, a fortified hilltop crowned by the old town's whitewashed 16th-century church, makes an easy landmark for finding the marina on the way back from a day trip.
Choosing a boat, when to sail
A licence-free boat (€100–250 a day) or RIB (€200–600 a day) is plenty for this sheltered coast. The east coast generally stays calmer than the west in westerly winds, making it a good fallback when San Antonio gets uncomfortable.
