Monaco Yacht Show 2026: watching the superyachts, and renting something more modest
From 23 to 26 September 2026, Port Hercule displays the world’s superyacht elite. What that market really represents, and how to enjoy Monaco’s bay on a standard rental budget.
From 23 to 26 September 2026, Port Hercule hosts the Monaco Yacht Show, the world showcase for superyachts: dozens of vessels over 40 metres moored side by side, often shown for the first time, for an audience of professionals and prospective buyers. You can watch the spectacle from the bay without needing anywhere near that budget.
A market apart, far from standard rentals
The boats on display belong to an entirely different world from a Boat-Comparator rental: these are bespoke yachts, bought or chartered by the week for sums with no relation to a day on a RIB or sailboat. The show is still worth the detour for anyone who simply wants to see these vessels up close from the water, in a rented boat, at a respectful distance from the exhibition docks.
What these giants actually weigh
All that scale carries a documented environmental cost: a recent study assessing fuel scenarios for large cruise ships and superyachts highlights the disproportionate fuel consumption of this category compared with standard leisure boating, and identifies the alternative fuels that could cut its footprint in the coming years (Petrović et al., Environmental Assessment of Cruise Ships and Superyachts with Multi-Criteria Evaluation of Marine Fuels, Applied Sciences, 2026, see the study on Google Scholar).
The good news: a day yacht charter stays accessible
You don’t need a superyacht to enjoy Monaco’s bay during the show: a day on a standard motor yacht, from €2,500 with a skipper, already lets you cruise past the exhibition docks from offshore. Our guide to yacht rental in Monaco covers the options and real prices, and Boat-Comparator compares live offers available in Monaco for those dates.
The rest of the day
Once you’ve seen the show from the water, Monaco’s bay lends itself to a more classic outing towards Cap-Ferrat or Beaulieu: our guide to Monaco by boat for the day covers the route, anchorages and distances to neighbouring ports.
