One offer in four is a yacht — and a RIB at €382

Reading of 24 August 2026 for a 23 September outing: 51 offers, median €1,500 per day, first offer at €233, the dearest at €17,200. The category breakdown explains the gap: RIB €382 median (2 offers, €363 to €400), sailboat €838 (6 offers, from €409), motorboat €1,111 (23 offers, from €584), yacht €6,751 (12 offers, €1,000 to €17,200), license-free €233 (a single offer). The catamaran appears only once across the whole collection (€521, read on 10 August). Twelve yachts out of 51 offers — close to one in four: that composition, not a high entry ticket, is what pushes the median to €1,500. For scale, the Monaco yacht median still sits below Saint-Tropez (€7,699 across 15 offers) and Mandelieu (€7,191 across 8), and above Cannes (€5,590). Two Monegasque harbours, six French marinas within ten kilometres

Departures are from Port Hercule, below the Rock and the casino, or the Fontvieille harbour on the far side of the Rock. Our marina records come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL) and cover eight countries, the Principality not among them: the nearest entries are therefore French — Port de Cap d’Ail 1.2 km away, Port de Beaulieu at 7.3 km, Port de Pierre Fourmis at 7.9 km, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat at 8.5 km, Menton’s Vieux Port at 8.6 km and Menton-Garavan at 9.5 km. The water is a steep coastline where soundings drop away fast below the Rock: few shallows, but few shelters either when the easterly swell rolls in on a levant. These waters lie at the heart of the Pelagos Sanctuary, created by an agreement between France, Italy and Monaco: a 2017 study by Maria Grazia Pennino et al. in PLOS ONE maps the collision risk between cetaceans and marine traffic there (see the study). Offshore, keeping a visual watch is not a formality. See the marinas around Monaco, Beaulieu, Èze and Cap-d’Ail by boat and Mediterranean marine protected areas.

September in Monaco: −10%, but the Yacht Show across the calendar

The median falls from €1,653 for August outings to €1,484 for September ones, that is −10% — the mildest drop of the ten bases read this week, level with Barcelona, while Antalya falls 28%. The reason is structural: on water where yachts make up a quarter of supply, the fleet does not empty out in the shoulder season. Add a calendar constraint specific to the Principality — the Monaco Yacht Show, in late September, saturates the Port Hercule quays: aim for the first fortnight instead. On qualifications, operators in the bay’s French harbours apply the national rule: no license up to 6 hp (4.5 kW), the coastal license above that, nothing at all for sail; for a Monegasque departure, have the operator confirm what is expected before you book. Monaco's waters, in practice

A steep, deep coastline between Cap d’Ail and Cap Martin, where soundings drop away fast below the Rock. Wind-wise: light summer breezes, but an easterly swell that rolls in hard when the levant blows.

Departures, day-trip classics and season

Departures: Port Hercule, below the Rock and the casino, and the Fontvieille harbour on the far side of the Rock. The local classics: the bay of Roquebrune and Cap Martin to the east, Beaulieu, the Villefranche roadstead and Cap Ferrat to the west. High season: from May to September — the Grand Prix in late May and the Yacht Show in late September saturate the quays.

In France, motorboats rent license-free up to 6 hp (4.5 kW); above that, the French coastal license or an equivalent title is required. Sail needs no license at all. Operators check papers at the pontoon — if in doubt about a specific model, ask for the engine's real power before booking.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Monaco?

On our reading of 24 August 2026 for a 23 September outing: 51 offers, median €1,500 per day, first offer at €233. By category: RIB €382 (2 offers), sailboat €838 (6 offers), motorboat €1,111 (23 offers), yacht €6,751 (12 offers), license-free €233 (1 offer).

Why is the Monaco median so far above the first offer?

Because twelve of the 51 offers logged are yachts, between €1,000 and €17,200 per day. The median describes the composition of the fleet, not the entry ticket: that stays at €233, with the median RIB at €382. Compare listing by listing rather than on the overall median.
