Budget-wise it is the entry ticket of boat rental: €100–250 a day, often less for a half-day, with fuel frequently included. Fleets are small, so summer slots go early — compare and book ahead.

License-free boating in Hyères: the local waters
The Hyères roadstead is a huge stretch of water, but a licence-free boat finds plenty to do without crossing it. From Port Saint-Pierre, run along La Capte and the eastern shore of the Giens peninsula: La Badine beach with its white-sand bottom, the shallow water off La Bergerie, and northwards the long Salins beaches. Everything fits within a three-mile radius, with easy anchorages throughout.
The crossing to Porquerolles is almost always forbidden for 6 hp boats: the channel carries constant ferry traffic and the wind funnels through it quickly. Operators therefore confine the zone to the roadstead — sensibly so. The mistral barrels into this area with force: check the forecast before setting out and favour the morning, the Badine shore staying the best sheltered when it blows from the north-west. Day hire runs at the usual 100–250 €.
