License-free boat rental in Fréjus

Fréjus (Var) is one of the busiest rental ports on the French coast — yet each platform only shows its own catalogue. Boat-Comparator queries them all in a single search and ranks the offers by real price.

License-free rental is the simplest way to spend a day on the water in Fréjus: engine capped at 6 hp, daytime navigation within an area set by the operator, and a boat you master in a quarter of an hour.

Observed rates run €100–250 per day depending on season and hull size. One tip worth gold in summer: aim for the morning slot — the sea is kinder, and 6 hp fleets are the smallest in the harbour.

License-free boating in Fréjus: the local waters

Port-Fréjus, dug into the head of the gulf between the nature reserve and Saint-Raphaël, opens onto a family-friendly stretch of water perfectly suited to a 6 hp boat. Head south-west and the long Fréjus-Plage beach runs down to Saint-Aygulf, about two nautical miles away, before the first coves of the Issambres area. Head east for the neighbouring harbour of Saint-Raphaël, then the Lion de Mer and Lion de Terre, two red porphyry islets much loved by snorkellers, little more than a mile from the entrance.

Operators generally set the zone between Saint-Aygulf and Santa Lucia — the Dramont headland and the Île d'Or, further east, are a job for a licensed RIB. One local caution: the mouth of the Argens river, between Port-Fréjus and Saint-Aygulf, where shifting sandbanks alter the depths — give it a wide berth. In a mistral the head of the gulf often stays workable in the morning; in the afternoon an easterly breeze raises a short chop. Expect 100–250 € per day under the French 6 hp rule, daytime navigation only.

Frequently asked questions

How much does license-free boat rental cost in Fréjus?

Expect €100–250 per day — where you land depends on size, the boat's year and the platform. Prices shown here are those actually published at the time of your search.

Do I need a license?

In France, motorboats rent license-free up to 6 hp (4.5 kW); above that, the French coastal license or an equivalent title is required. Sail needs no license at all. Operators check papers at the pontoon — if in doubt about a specific model, ask for the engine's real power before booking.

Which platforms do you compare in Fréjus?

Boataround, SamBoat, Click&Boat and GlobeSailor are queried live; GetMyBoat and Boatsetter will join as partnership agreements land.

Can you rent a boat in Fréjus without a license?

Yes, the French 6 hp rule applies from Port-Fréjus. The zone usually covers Fréjus-Plage west to Saint-Aygulf, and the Lion de Mer and Lion de Terre islets to the east, a favourite for snorkelling.

Can you reach the Dramont or Île d’Or from Fréjus?

Rarely license-free: operators most often cap the zone at Santa Lucia. The Dramont headland and Île d’Or, further east, call for a licensed RIB or a skippered outing.
