€348 median, €857 ceiling: the tightest range in Corsica

Reading of 29 August 2026 for a 28 September outing: 39 offers, median €348 per day, first offer at €70, dearest at €857. The ratio between the two extremes is only 12, and above all none of the 39 offers goes past €857: that is the lowest ceiling of the six Corsican bases in our records, far below Bastia (€2,249), Porto-Vecchio (€6,600), Bonifacio (€8,941), L’Île-Rousse (€12,960) and Ajaccio (€16,067). In other words, there is no large-yacht fleet here to pull the median upwards. Macinaggio ranks 15th lowest median of the 119 bases we log, and 18th lowest first offer. The category breakdown confirms that tightness: motorboat €450 median (17 offers, from €175 to €857), RIB €400 (5 offers, from €303 to €745), sailboat €311 (9 offers, from €73 to €464). A single catamaran offer, at €225: read it as an isolated indication, not as a median. No yacht offer appears in our records, at any date, and we have no reliable reading for the license-free category at this base. Macinaggio, Barcaggio, Centuri: the harbours at the tip of the Cape

From the OpenStreetMap records, Macinaggio harbour is the immediate departure point (0.1 km) and the ring around it is short: Barcaggio 6.7 km away, at the very tip of the Cape, Centuri harbour 8.5 km away on the western side, Marine de Giottani 13.9 km, Marine de Sisco 16.9 km heading back down the east coast. Further out come Port de Toga (28 km), Bastia Old Harbour (29.5 km), Porto di Capraia Isola (32.6 km, on the Italian island of Capraia), Saint-Florent harbour (33.6 km) and the Mare È Stagnu marina (34.2 km). These are rocky shores, and their first few metres of depth are exactly the habitat studied by Thibaut et al. in 2014 in Marine Pollution Bulletin: Cystoseira amentacea, a brown alga endemic to the Mediterranean that grows on very shallow rocky substrates. The study covers the whole French Mediterranean coast, Corsica included — not Cap Corse alone. The authors mapped its current distribution along 1,832 km of shoreline through in situ surveys, after examining 467 papers and herbarium samples; the alga was observed along 1,125 km of coast, 33% of it as a continuous or near-continuous belt. Contrary to earlier belief, they find no proven regression over most of its range, except in four sectors of Provence, the Côte d’Azur and Corsica; they do find a significant relationship between the absence or low abundance of the alga and proximity to harbours and large sewage outfalls (see the study). August to September: a fleet effect, and the French 6 hp rule

From one monthly pass to the next, the Macinaggio median rises from €321 in August (3 readings) to €370 in September (4 readings). This is not a price-list increase: with so few passes and 39 offers, it is a fleet-composition effect — one top-of-range motorboat listed on one day and withdrawn the next is enough to move the median by tens of euros. The dated reference remains the 29 August reading for a 28 September outing, at €348. On regulations, Corsica is French, so the French rule applies, not the neighbouring country’s: in France, motorboats rent license-free up to 6 hp (4.5 kW); above that, the French coastal license or an equivalent title is required. Sail needs no license at all — which puts the 9 logged sailboats, at a €311 median, within reach with no qualification. For scale: Bastia, logged on the same 29 August 2026, shows a €400 median across 47 offers (from €73 to €2,249), €52 more per day than Macinaggio, with a ceiling almost three times higher. Departures, day-trip classics and season

Departures: the Macinaggio harbour, the historic stopover at the end of the Cap. The local classics: the Tamarone and Barcaggio beaches along the customs path, the Finocchiarola islets and Italian Capraia offshore. High season: from June to September, a mandatory stop on round-Corsica cruises.
