Renting a Boat in La Londe-les-Maures, the Quiet Gateway to the Îles d'Or

Between Hyères and Le Lavandou, La Londe-les-Maures sits away from the Var coast's big marinas while still giving direct access to the Îles d'Or — a lesser-known base favoured by those who want to skip the crowds of Hyères or Toulon at the height of summer.
A wine-growing town facing the Îles d'Or
La Londe-les-Maures is known wine country, home to several estates classified within the Côtes de Provence appellation — an agricultural hinterland that contrasts with a coastline turned fully towards the sea and its islands. Several of these estates are open for visits, making it easy to combine a morning on the water with an afternoon among the vines, just a few kilometres from the marina.
The Miramar marina
The Miramar marina, within the town, holds most of the local rental fleet: RIBs and small motorboats for a day out, in a calmer setting than the bigger harbours nearby. The coastline here alternates small beaches and pine woods, with a direct route out to sea that avoids the busiest stretches of water.
Porquerolles within easy reach

An alternative to Hyères, Toulon and Le Lavandou
Compared with Hyères, covered in our guide to Hyères and the Giens peninsula, La Londe stays a quieter base: fewer boats setting out, a shorter run to the islands, but naturally a smaller rental fleet to choose from. It also sits just minutes from Le Lavandou, widening the choice of operators if the Miramar marina is fully booked, which happens often in peak summer.
Budget and booking
Rates follow the usual Côte d'Azur ranges for a RIB or motorboat rented by the day. In July-August, book several days ahead, since the marina stays smaller than its neighbours and fills up fast once the school holidays start.
