BOAT-COMPARATOR Guide
Renting a catamaran by the day: the perfect platform for 10
The day-charter catamaran: for whom, for how much, with or without skipper — and why it is the rising format for groups and families.
Long reserved for cruising, the catamaran increasingly rents by the day — excellent news for groups: total stability, doubled space, trampolines over the water. The ultimate 'swimming platform' outing.
Why it works
A 40 ft cat offers what no motorboat can: four distinct spaces (cockpit, saloon, trampolines, aft skirts), no heel, next to no seasickness, and a real capacity of 10-12 without stacking. For a birthday, a three-generation family day or a small offsite, it is the king format.
Skippered, almost always
By the day, the dominant formula is skippered: you enjoy, they manoeuvre (a cat in a marina takes managing). Expect €800-1,500 per day all-in by size and area, split by 10 — a good restaurant's price per person, for a full day at sea.
Sail or power?
Sailing cats favour gentleness (engine off downwind — silence is the true luxury); rarer power-cats go further faster. On a day trip the difference is small: choose on equipment (paddleboards, snorkelling, sound system) and reviews.
Booking smart
Day cats sell out on July-August Saturdays: book weeks ahead, and compare 'per person' offers (shared cruises) against 'whole boat' — at 10, privatising often costs the same as ten individual tickets.
