€17: the lowest floor of our 183 bases
Reading of 31 August 2026 for a 30 September outing: 43 offers, median €291 per day, dearest offer at €857 — and first offer at €17. That is the lowest floor in our whole collection, across 183 logged bases: the runner-up, Saint-Mandrier, starts at €22. At that rate you are obviously not looking at a full day at sea but at an hourly hire or a very small unit, which is precisely why the headline price has to be read against the duration next to it. The sailboat is the real bargain here: a €181 median across 12 offers (€41 to €523), the second cheapest sailboat among our bases with ten offers or more, behind Pornic (€171). The motorboat leads on volume with 20 offers at €378 (€245 to €857), and the RIB comes out at €291 across 4 offers. No catamarans and no yachts in the catalogue: at a €291 median, Deauville is one of the four cheapest French bases of the 75 we log in mainland France. Three basins within 500 metres, then nothing before thirteen kilometres
Deauville packs its facilities into a few hundred metres: the Bassin Morny, the Deauville marina and the Bassin des Yachts all sit 500 metres from the centre, with the Ammonites beach 2.4 km out. After that, nothing before Honfleur's Vieux Bassin at 13.2 km, Le Havre marina at 14.4 km, Port Guillaume at 14.5 km and Port Vauban at 14.9 km; Caen is 36.9 km away and Port Winston, at Arromanches, 50.2 km — 18 marinas in all within the 60 km radius (OpenStreetMap records). On this coast the tide commands everything, and the brown water of the Seine bay is not pollution. A three-dimensional model of the estuary by Florent Grasso and colleagues, published in 2018 in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, shows that the mass of the turbidity maximum is driven by the tidal range — and that energetic waves add up to 44% of the maximum mass measured during spring tides, and triple it during mean tides compared with calm conditions (see the study). In practice: for a few days after a Channel blow you sail through markedly more sediment-laden water. September: +11%, a composition effect rather than a rise
The median moves from €283 for August outings to €313 for September ones, i.e. +11% across four readings each side. We do not read it as a rate increase: on a 43-offer catalogue that turns over from one month to the next, the gap comes first from what is still available — more motorboats, fewer small units. The real September constraint in Normandy is not price but the weather window: the Channel builds fast and outings get cancelled. On the rules, France allows licence-free rental up to 6 hp (4.5 kW), but our reading returns no offer in that category in Deauville — the Seine bay is sailed with a qualification or with a skipper. Deauville's waters, in practice
The Côte Fleurie at the entrance to the Seine estuary, between Norman beaches and cliffs towards Honfleur. Wind-wise: a changeable Channel: manageable summer breezes, but a busy estuary where lookout and tide discipline are essential.
Departures, day-trip classics and season
Departures: Port Deauville and the Morny basin in the heart of the resort, tide-dependent for access. The local classics: Trouville across the Touques, Honfleur and its Vieux Bassin, and the Seine bay towards Le Havre. High season: from June to September, between the boardwalk, regattas and the film festival.
