Yacht rental in Lagos

Lagos (Algarve) combines ocean sailing with sheltered coves. Boat-Comparator compares the platforms in one search to find the right boat at the best price.

A yacht day in Lagos is the full experience: skipper (sometimes a stewardess) included, champagne on ice, anchoring off the beaches everyone else watches from shore. Units from 15 to 25 metres dominate day charter.

Budget: from €2,500 per day, fuel often billed on actual consumption — an item that can reach 20% of the total, worth clarifying before booking. A professional skipper is almost always mandatory, and rightly so: they know every anchorage in the bay.

€3,100 for a yacht, €2,413 for a catamaran, €2,200 for a sailboat: it all converges

Survey of 31 August 2026 for a 30 September departure: 9 yachts in Lagos, median €3,100 per day, from €1,164 to €7,000. Across our 139 bases with a usable yacht median, Lagos ranks 71st — mid-table, nothing remarkable. What is remarkable is what happens just below. In the same survey, on the same date and for the same departure, the catamaran comes out at a €2,413 median on 10 offers and the sailboat at €2,200 on 3 offers — the latter being, across our 177 bases, the 5th highest sailboat median we have recorded (though it rests on three offers only: read it as an indication, not as a robust median). In other words, in Lagos stepping down from yacht to catamaran saves just 22 %, and stepping down to the sailboat saves almost nothing more. The three upper categories converge, which is rare: elsewhere the catamaran divides the bill by three or by nine. The yacht day charter price breakdown covers the line items, the crewed charter guide what the skipper covers.

The real budget lever in the Algarve: the €1,083 motorboat

The step that matters in Lagos sits one rung lower. The motorboat comes out at a €1,083 median on 14 offers in the same survey, from €348 to €2,620 — three times less than the yacht, on the base's deepest catalogue after the yacht itself. And its €348 opening offer is the cheapest listing in the whole Lagos survey, all categories combined: the day's 50 offers span €348 to €7,000, for a €1,456 median. The RIB sits at €582 on 7 offers, within a very tight range (€500 to €625). For the license-free category, we publish no figure at all: the only value we hold appears identically on eight other bases the same week — the signature of a collection duplicate, not of a Lagos listing. The offers remain browsable live on the page, but no median will be published until the survey is usable. Our guide to boat rental in Lagos and Portimão details day trips, the Lagos or Albufeira comparison helps pick the base, and the Algarve guide covers the eastern coast. Two departure points in Lagos, Sagres 25 km out, and heavily solicited dolphins

According to the OpenStreetMap extract, departures concentrate on the Marina de Lagos, 0.8 km from the centre; the neighbouring entry at 0.6 km is a building, the Edificio Infante D. Henrique, not a harbour — we flag it rather than count it. After that, you have to go far: Porto de Pesca da Baleeira in Sagres (24.8 km), Porto Abrigo in Albufeira (36.7 km), Marina de Vilamoura (49 km) and the fishing harbour of Quarteira (50.1 km). This coast is also Portugal's leading whale-watching hub, and the activity is documented: a study by M. Júlia Forli, Rui Peres dos Santos, Alfredo Rodrigues and Rita Castilho, published in 2024 in Ocean & Coastal Management, combined acoustic analysis with land-based observation to measure the impact of watching vessels on the common dolphin and the bottlenose dolphin. In the presence of boats, five of the six acoustic parameters of common dolphin whistles are significantly altered, three in the bottlenose dolphin, and the latter reduces its echolocation clicks. Above all: in the central region of the Algarve coast, the animals are exposed to vessels for up to 38.9 % of daylight hours, and for 66.7 % of observation time the number of vessels present exceeded the limit set by law (see the study). On a skippered yacht, keeping your distance is as much a regulatory matter as a courtesy. On licensing: in Portugal the carta de navegador is required for most motorboats, and bareboat rental is rarer than in Spain or Italy — on a yacht, a professional crew is the norm. Port pages are gathered in the marina hub around Lagos.
