BOAT-COMPARATOR Guide
Renting a boat in Dubrovnik: Lokrum and the Elaphite Islands
Lokrum fifteen minutes from the city walls, the Elaphite archipelago: the two classic boat trips from Dubrovnik.
In southern Dalmatia, Dubrovnik opens onto two very different boat trips: the nearby island of Lokrum, and the wider Elaphite archipelago.
Lokrum, fifteen minutes from the walls
Just offshore from the old town, Lokrum is reached in about fifteen minutes by sea. The island has no accommodation and no proper restaurants: people come to swim and walk in the shade of the pines, before it closes in the late afternoon.
The Elaphite archipelago
Northwest of Dubrovnik, the Elaphites count thirteen islands and islets, three of them inhabited and served by boat trips: Koločep, Lopud and Šipan. Lopud stands out for a large sandy beach, rare in a mostly rocky region.
Which boat for the day
A RIB rented for the day lets you combine Lokrum in the morning with a stop in the Elaphites in the afternoon, or spend the whole day in the archipelago depending on how many islands you want to see.
