BOAT-COMPARATOR Guide
Boat Rental in Solenzara, on Corsica's East Coast
Sandy beaches and a coastal plain, away from the crowds of Bonifacio or Calvi: renting a boat in Solenzara, on Corsica's east coast.
Our Corsica by boat guide mostly covers the west coast and the south of the island: Solenzara, on the eastern shore, shows a very different side of the Island of Beauty.
A flat coast, far from the cliffs
Unlike the rocky calanques and dramatic cliffs of the west coast, the eastern shore around Solenzara stretches into long sandy beaches backed by farmland — a more restful stretch to sail, with fewer steep headlands to round.
A quieter base
Noticeably less crowded than Bonifacio, Calvi or Porto-Vecchio at the height of summer, Solenzara often makes it easier to find an anchorage without the same crowds, while staying a reasonable distance from Porto-Vecchio and its beaches to the south.
The Ospedale massif in the background
Inland, the forested Ospedale massif rises above the coastal plain — a useful landmark for getting your bearings when approaching the coast from offshore.
Less sheltered than the west coast
The east coast is more exposed to easterly and south-easterly winds than the enclosed bays of the west coast: it's worth watching the marine forecast and favouring anchorages tucked deep in a cove once an onshore wind sets in.
Budget and comparison
License-free €100-250 a day, RIB €200-600, sailboat €300-700 — the same ranges as the rest of Corsica. Boat-Comparator compares platforms for Solenzara in one search.
