14 catamarans on the Tagus: Portugal's leading catalogue

Survey of 7 September 2026 for a 7 October departure: 14 catamarans, a €2,176 daily median, from €442 to €6,400. That is the 15th deepest catamaran catalogue of our 145 bases surveyed for this type — and, level with Albufeira, the deepest in Portugal. The ranking deserves a caveat: the six catalogues ahead of the whole of Europe are all tropical (Papeete 41 offers, Raiatea 37, Le Marin 35, Airlie Beach 29, Marigot and Tortola 21), where the catamaran is the default cruising boat. In Lisbon it costs 2.1 times the sailboat, recorded the same day at €1,040 on 24 offers — the second hull is paid for here, unlike what we observe in Dubrovnik for instance. The rest of the day: motorboat €675 on 26 offers, yacht €5,000 on 13 offers, the base's 80 offers spanning €192 to €12,084 for a €1,085 median. Cascais 25 km away, 60% cheaper — but on five listings

The Portuguese comparison teaches a lot, provided you read it carefully. In the same category: Portimão €1,325 on 9 offers (surveyed 6 September), Albufeira €1,664 on 14 offers (2 September), Vilamoura €2,067 on 8 offers (1 September), Lisbon €2,176 and Lagos €2,409 on 10 offers (7 September). Lisbon therefore sits at the top of the national range, 31% above Albufeira. That leaves Cascais, 25 kilometres away at the mouth of the Tagus: an €870 median in the 1 September survey, 60% below Lisbon — but on five listings only, which makes it an isolated example rather than a median to budget on. A tidal river-sea, and a rise that is not one

The docks string out along the Tagus: Doca da Marinha (1.8 km), Doca de Alcântara (3.3 km), Doca do Poço do Bispo (3.9 km), Doca de Santo Amaro (4.2 km), Marina Parque das Nações (5.5 km), Doca de Belém (6.3 km) and Doca de Pedrouços (8.1 km) — 26 harbours within 60 km (OpenStreetMap data, ODbL), listed on the marina hub around Lisbon. Two local features weigh more than elsewhere: the nortada, Portugal's summer northerly, and serious tidal streams in the Tagus — the programme is set by slack water, not by preference. On how this sector is organised, a study by Elsa Pereira, Rute Martins, João Filipe Marques and co-authors, published in 2022 in Frontiers in Sports and Active Living, analysed the application files of 17 Portuguese "nautical stations" collected between September and December 2021: structuring the tourism offer comes first among the goals of the alliances formed, ahead of governance and promotion, and the authors note the prominence of environmental education actions against the small number of stations working on sustainable transport (see the study). By departure month the catamaran gives €1,508 for August 2026 (4 surveys), €1,994 for September (4 surveys) and €2,176 for October (1 survey). That apparent 44% rise is not a rate rise: the floor climbs from €380 to €442 while the ceiling falls from €9,600 to €6,400 — the range narrows, the extremes leave the catalogue. Two data gaps, finally, stated plainly: Lisbon's RIB line has not been recorded since 17 August and its last row carries an artefact signature shared with another base, as does the single "license-free" offer of 10 August — neither value is published here.
