Six basins within two kilometres, and a reserve just offshore

None of our other ten bases packs so much within walking distance: the Port de Saint-Raphaël at 300 m, the Santa-Lucia north basin at 1.3 km, Santa-Lucia at 1.7 km, Port Fréjus at 1.8 km, the Santa-Lucia south basin and Port Fréjus 2 at 1.9 km — six basins inside two kilometres — then Boulouris (3.3 km), Saint-Aygulf (4.8 km), Le Poussaï (6.5 km), Le Castellas (7 km), Port d'Agay (7.2 km) and Port Ferréol (8.4 km), for 66 marinas within a 60 km radius (OpenStreetMap records). Off the red rocks of the Estérel, the Cap Roux no-take reserve justifies the outing on its own: a study by Sylvain Roblet and colleagues, published in 2025 in Ecosphere, sampled environmental DNA there and identified 66 fish taxa, the vast majority of which were detected only inside the protected area; depth works the other way, with mesophotic reefs harbouring the lowest diversity (see the study).
